  i've been lurking here since late last year...was very hesitant to join the forum because of fear that satan would control my pc.... .

  i'm born in, but always had my little doubts about "the truth" since i was young, but went ahead and got baptized ect.... .

  i stumbled upon this site while looking for a km and initially thought it was a jw forum, but after seeing some of the titles of various threads, i thought to myself "i'm on an apostate website".

  @ zid: Thanks for your welcome & links for those threads...I'm sure it may be challenging in the upcoming weeks dealing with my mom, but will let you know how it goes.

  @ FS: I'm very sorry to hear about the relationship with yor brother...I notice you mentioned about your brother shunning you although you weren't DA nor DF, I've known elders who tell the "spiritually strong" ones to limit their association with the "spiritually weak" ones.

  @JamieB: Its funny that that writing a letter would cause for DA or DF, yet a C/O once told me that if there's something I was having difficulty understanding & the local elders couldn't answer, I could write to the WTBS and I'd get a reply...thanks for the heads up!

  @tornapart: I've look into jwfacts & i'm still wrapping my head around the UN/NGO thing...i wonder if anyone who has written to WTBS and told them about what we now know about "the truth" got a written response from them?

  too far gone

  i was wondering if any elders on board or anyone for that matter has ever heard anyone within the organisation tell someone they are too far gone and could never change their lives and be re-instated?.

  i asked my brother who is an elder and he told me he has never heard it and he does not think it is possible for someone to have gone to far to be "rescued".

  your thoughts my learned friends.

  I heard someone mentioned that pertaining to a ex-elder who plays a very active role in a church...helps with the choir ect..he was a dub for decades, now joins achurch and the JW's treat him like crap and say some darn demeaning things about him!

  At the Assembly... Did you catch that talk about encouraging young ones to pursue a career in the ministry? ...and what about that 'murmuring'

  yes, i heard that talk where apparently (in my wife's circuit that is) there are 5 times as many pioneers over 50 or 60 than there are amongst the younger people.

  there was also 3 or 4 times as many elders and ms's amongst the elderly than there are amongst young people.

  the message, parents, friends, encourage your young ones to pursue an education and a career in the ministry.

  I'm thankfull that I did go to college despite what the WTBS said...it allowed me to be promoted at my job. A young sister in a neighboring KH was extremely smart and was offered a scholarship to study something in the medical feild....could you beleive she had one more year to go and quit college to go pioneer? She married an elder who is twice her age and they're out "where the need is greater"...the last time I saw her, she didn't look so happy...what happens later on when she has no income to support ailing parents ect?

  Thank you for all your warm welcome...now comes the hard part I guess

  For those who have left the WTBS and remained religous, what is the real reason you think that suffering/voilence ect really occur?

  Then for those who have become agnostic/atheists after leaving the WTBS, what do you think is the purpose of life and will it continue like how it is now?

  For me personally, now after doing all this reading ect...it's like the universe has been lifted off my back!!! Although I can't leave physically just yet because of family...and yes my family is an HARD CORE one! I've read other threads and know others out there are in similar circumstances.

  One thing that really got to me was when I found out about the child abuse cases...the WTBS bashes other groups for it, come to realize its happening in the WTBS...how hypocritical, it's just unfortunate that the news media seems to mainly cover the Catholic church...why isn't hell on the media when it occurs in the WTBS...the only way my family would rethink the WTBS is if a child abuse case came on CNN as thats all they watch because "we're in the last days".

  @blacksheep: at this time, i cant tell anyone in my cong/family what i've found out...i'd have to go to another planet to live, especially my hard core mom... i feel so sorry for her because she's extremely sad that all her bible studies have quit on her and the rhetoric from the platform that Jehovah will provide one for you once you pray isn't helping...our territory is overworked and people aren't as religous as they use to be. I remember even up to 10 years ago (i'm born in) you could find at least a good 5-10 minutes discussion...now you're forntuate if you get a second with them...

  @Pamsgirl: I guess divine intervention lol, I couldn't beleive how helpfull/warm people on here are...the WTBS make you all seem so bitter and people who are demon possessed/mentally diseased...now I know better...

  Hello everyone! I've been lurking here since late last year...was very hesitant to join the forum because of fear that Satan would control my PC...

  I'm born in, but always had my little doubts about "the truth" since I was young, but went ahead and got baptized ect...

  I stumbled upon this site while looking for a KM and initially thought it was a JW forum, but after seeing some of the titles of various threads, I thought to myself "I'm on an apostate website". Honeslty, despite the warning we get from the WTBS to stay away...the curiosity got the better of me although I felt very uneasy/guilty for vewing an apostate site.

  Physically, I'm "still in" because of family, but I'm mentally out depite currently serving as an MS. Will share more info later and looking forward to learning/sharing more...I've completed "crisis of conscience" and all I can say is UNBELEIVABLE!!!!!!!

  They don't think you can truly be happy "outside"

  i was on the phone with my mom last night (she's an uber-dub with a don't ask, don't tell type policy where we basically just don't discuss the fact that i celebrate holidays and go to church regularly etc.

  ) and she said she was talking to one of my old friends from the hall there.

  the friend asked my mom how i've been and my mom said she made a face and kind of went "ehhh..." and talked about my lack of meeting attendance (she doesn't know it's way more than that) and my friend shook her head and said, "aw, that's too bad, but i've been in ruts like that before" as though i'm just depressed and don't feel like going lately.

  It is very unfortunate that some of the folks think that once you leave, your life automatically goes "downhill"...I mean, there's no need for the negativity...there are tons of folks who have left, and are not alcholics, drug addicts ect

  my lovely wife was always being harassed by the local overlords for wearing too much makeup, having her hair too wild, and for not being submissive to them.

  when we began dating the overlords pressured me to get her to change.
